Our Covid-19 Donation Response
As a 6th generation Canadian family business that has been farming in Canada for over 125 years, Burnbrae Farms and the Hudson family have always supported the communities in which we do business. Giving back has always been part of our values and culture as a family and as a business.
Now with the negative impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on so many businesses and Canadian families, we as a nation have seen a 30% increase in people visiting food banks, we have felt an even greater requirement to help those in need. Our first question at Burnbrae Farms was “what can we do to help?”
Concerned with our partners’ eggs and egg products going to waste, we quickly made the decision to donate the products. Our family and our colleagues worked tirelessly with other farming families to ensure eggs were donated to those in need within their local communities, where they live and do business. We were fortunate to have been supported by the provincial egg farming associations in our efforts, including the BC Egg Farmers, Egg Farmers of Alberta, Manitoba Egg Farmers, Egg Farmer of Ontario and the Federation des producteurs d’oeufs du Quebec. Together we made a real difference in the lives of Canada families as the crisis unfolded and we are so proud of what we accomplished.
When a problem leads to a solution.
As COVID-19 affects all businesses and industries across the supply chain, we at Burnbrae Farms have been affected by a decrease in foodservice sales, including restaurants, hotels, and bakeries.
Our second question at Burnbrae Farms was, “How do we get our surplus of eggs and egg products into the hands of the people that need them?”
In support of Pandemic relief efforts, we’re proud to be part of the solution in ensuring that families across the country have access to the nutritious food they need.
