McBramble (The McFall Bramble)

The Bramble is a McFall and Hudson family favourite, particularly over the holidays. The colours are so festive!

  • Prep time: 3-5 min
  • Makes: 1 cocktail
  • Cook time: 0 min

Ingredients

1.5 oz / 45 ml
Hendricks Gin
2 oz / 60 ml
Chambord
2/3 oz / 20 ml
simple syrup
2/3 oz / 20 ml
Naturegg Simply Egg Whites
2/3 oz / 20 ml
lemon juice

Directions

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, and add gin, Chambord, lemon juice, egg whites and simple syrup. Shake until well-chilled.

  2. Fill a small tumbler with crushed ice and slowly pour the shaken mixture for a nice layer of froth.

  3. Garnish with blackberries.

Tips

  1. To make the simple syrup, add equal parts sugar and water to a small pot; heat until the sugar dissolves.

  2. Chambord can be replaced with Crème de mûre (Blackberry liqueur) for a more traditional approach. You can also use Crème de cassis (Black currants) or Pomegranate liqueur.

  3. Experiment by using Pisco instead of gin.

  4. Bramble flavours can also be infused into a cheesecake; we haven't tried this yet but it sounds delicious!

Tips: Whipping

When adding sugar to egg whites begin after the whites are foamy and then add 1 tablespoon at a time, beating as you slowly sprinkle the sugar in. Check to be sure that sugar is dissolved by rubbing a bit of beaten white between your thumb and forefinger. It should feel smooth.
